As part of ASCD's 60th anniversary celebration, longtime members and leaders share their thoughts and reflections on being a part of the ASCD community.
Noteworthy Changes: Under the stellar leadership of Executive Director Gene Carter, the Association has been responsive to the changing scenes in education in the United States and around the world. I served on the Internationalization Committee and am proud of the contributions the committee made in leading ASCD to embrace education worldwide.
Meaningful Milestones: I was the cofounder of the African American Critical Issues Network in 1991. This network has grown in membership and enjoys an excellent reputation for its programs at Annual Conference.
Personal Perspective: ASCD is powerful because of its ability to be responsive to the larger education environment and not abandon its historical role of advocating what is best for education, for teaching and learning, for our students, and for those who teach and lead. This responsiveness has positioned us as a world premier education association.
