Based on input from more than 2,000 ASCD members who participated in the ASCD issues survey and information gleaned from a variety of resources, the Issues Committee has identified the following issues as important for future action by the Association in 1999: Educator Quality and Responsibility, Families and Schools, Equal Access to Excellence, School Facilities, and Standards and Accountability.
The Committee will submit its recommendations for possible positions to the Board of Directors at ASCD's Annual Conference, March 6–8, in San Francisco, Calif. Four Town Meetings will allow members in attendance to debate these issues and proposed positions before the Board votes on whether to adopt them for action. Copies of the proposed positions, with supporting information, will be mailed with the Conference Program books and will be available at the Town Meetings as well.

EL’s experienced team of writers and editors produces Educational Leadership magazine, an award-winning publication that reaches hundreds of thousands of K-12 educators and leaders each year. Our work directly supports the mission of ASCD: To empower educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
