Educational psychologist Gerald Bracey examines current topics in the education field and, in his new report, looks to discredit several myths related to high-achieving schools, standards, and mayoral involvement in school matters.
- Supporting Teacher Talent: The View from Generation Y. Public Agenda (November 2009). This new study surveys Generation Y educators, or teachers 32 or younger, about performance pay and found that younger teachers support merit pay at a higher rate than teachers over the age of 32.
- Leaders and Laggards: A State-by-State Report Card on Educational Innovation. Center for American Progress (November 2009). A new report card grades states on how well they are leading the way in education innovation and how they are adapting to President Obama's education policies.
- Teacher Quality: Education Policy White Paper. National Academy of Education (October 2009). This report says that recruiting skilled teachers is just as important as removing ineffective teachers from the classroom.
- Indian Education Policies in Five Northwest Region States. Regional Educational Laboratory at Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (October 2009). This study examines 13 key policies related to Native American education in the Midwest. It found that only six of the policies have been adopted in all five areas that were part of the study.
