- The Point Smart.Click Safe. Report: Task Force Recommendations for Best Practices for Child Online Safety. Point Smart. Click Safe. (2009). With online safety for children being such an important issue, a task force drew up recommendations for Web sites.
- Hi-Tech Cheating: Cell Phones and Cheating School. A National Poll. Common Sense Media. (June 2009). According to this report, students are cheating at an alarming rate using cell phones. Schools need to address this issue by giving lessons in technology use and ethics.
- Mathematics Learning in Early Childhood: Paths Toward Excellence and Equity. National Research Council. (July, 2009). The National Research Council's recently released report finds that preschool math is neglected when compared to reading. The report says that failing to instill math skills in young children can put them at a disadvantage later in life and suggests that more emphasis be placed on math lessons.
- Vibrant Neighborhoods, Successful Schools: What the Federal Government Can Do to Foster Both. The Urban Institute. (July 2009). This report looks at how the government, specifically the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Education, can help improve education and the quality of home life for students. The report offers examples of strategies that have helped improve student performance in school and the connection between housing and education.
