STARDATA, The Education Connection
A program to assist both high school guidance departments and colleges in counseling college-bound students, STARDATA provides both a student profile database and an E-mail network.
Guidance departments can store and access information on students' college aspirations, academic and athletic records, and special attributes. Colleges can search the database for prospective students and inform students about courses, activities, financial aid, and scholarships. Through the E-mail system, members can communicate with one another.
The system is available nationwide, with a sales force established in 11 states. A subscription to the network costs $1500 per year for a high school or college, which allows enrollment of all students, or a high school may choose a direct student enrollment plan for $35 for each student.
