Slate of Candidates for 2011 ASCD Elections

Want to be a more active ASCD member? ASCD encourages all members to vote in the upcoming election. Through a rigorous process, ASCD's Nominations Committee has selected the following slate of candidates who will run for office in 2011. General Membership Election

President-Elect (one-year term):
  1. Becky Cooke, Wash.
  2. Mark Sutter, Ohio
Board of Directors (two positions; three-year terms):
  1. David Mathis, S.C.
(Note: A second candidate has withdrawn because of unforeseen circumstances.)
Leadership Council Members-at-Large (four positions; three-year terms):
  1. Kimberly Kappler Hewitt, Ohio
  2. John Kiemele, Colo.
  3. Lori Stollar, Penn.
  4. Shannon Trejo, Tex.
  5. Derek Tully, Bermuda

Leadership Council Election

Board of Directors (two positions, three-year terms):
  1. Marie Adair, N.J.
  2. Susie Carr, Ohio
  3. Leslie Standerfer, Ariz.

No-Campaigning Policy

In accordance with ASCD nomination and election procedures, candidates (and if applicable, affiliate presidents, executive directors/secretaries, and newsletter and journal editors from the candidates' respective affiliates) are required to sign an affidavit asking them to observe the following conditions:
  • Candidates and their supporters must refrain from requesting (orally or in writing) the support or votes of ASCD members.
  • Candidates and their supporters are not permitted to distribute printed literature announcing or supporting their candidacies.
  • Candidates and their supporters are not permitted to produce publications or displays highlighting the positive qualities of candidates, whether or not ASCD candidacy is mentioned.
  • Candidates and their supporters may not engage in any organized effort to promote or enhance the candidacy of an individual.
