Throughout February, ASCD is celebrating our inaugural Affiliate Appreciation Month, and it is my great pleasure to extend my gratitude to you.
Last summer's Leader to Leader conference was one of the first events I attended after taking my position with ASCD, and it was wonderful to begin my tenure by meeting so many of you there. I look forward to reconnecting with many of you and to developing new relationships in April at our Annual Conference in Atlanta.
It is always exhilarating to hear your ideas for ASCD and feel your energy and passion as you describe the different ways you learn, teach, and lead in your respective affiliates. You are the embodiment of ASCD's presence in your home states, provinces, territories, and countries. Your role is essential to ASCD and our mission to promote the success of each child.
For ASCD members not yet familiar with our affiliate program, I encourage you to learn about your local organization and get involved. We currently have 54 affiliates worldwide, which truly are our eyes, ears, and hands in the field. Affiliates hold many outstanding programs, and they play a key strategic role in meeting the needs of children and the education professionals who serve them locally.
As we continue this important work together, I thank all of you—whether a current, past, or future ASCD affiliate member—for your work on behalf of all students.
Please do not hesitate to share your news, updates, and ideas with us. I hope we'll have many more opportunities to share with one another as we continue to engage you in the future of ASCD.
