ASCD is cooperating with two projects that call for the input of ASCD members.
Does your school have in place a nongraded structure? If so, a new project would like to learn more about your plan. The International Registry of Nongraded Schools will be collecting information about nongraded schools. The information will become part of an international directory and resource document. If you'd like to participate, send information about your school's approach to nongradedness to: Robert Anderson, P.O. Box 271669, Tampa, FL 33688-1669.
In addition, ASCD members are encouraged to assist a project that is developing criteria to help teachers select computer software for student assessment purposes. The National Council on Measurement in Education is looking for those who use, or have recently evaluated, software to be used in assessment. The software need not be only packages typically considered for assessment or grading (such as test banks or grade books) but may also include such products as games that serve educational purposes and provide evaluative feedback on student progress. If you're interested in helping, contact Arlen Gullickson, The Evaluation Center, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI 49008-5178; (616) 387-5895.
