      CHICAGO, IL—When ASCD, the nation's leading organization for professional learning for K-12 educators, hosts its 2022 annual conference in Chicago this month, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about equity-driven approaches to improving academic, social, and emotional outcomes for students of color.
      The 2022 ASCD Annual Conference—entitled Recharge & Reconnect—will be held from Friday, March 18 through Monday, March 21 at the Hilton Chicago (720 S. Michigan Ave.). While the event includes 125 session offerings covering a range of topics, educational equity will be a key theme.
      "We have some exceptional presenters from across the country joining us during our annual conference, and we hope that attendees will leave with a new set of tools and resources that they can use to transform student experiences in their home districts," said ASCD Chief Engagement Officer Ken Pratt.
      Sessions highlighting equity driven approaches include:
      • Superintendent Avis Williams and the team at Selma City Schools presenting about their six equity strategies designed to engage learners through their Academies of Academic Excellence;
      • Principal Baruti Kafele presenting about the importance of integrating equity into instructional practice by developing an equity mindset;
      • Daman Harris and Daryl Howard from the Building Our Network of Diversity (BOND) Project presenting about how their annual BOND Academy conference is developing the next generation of education leaders of color; and
      •  Kingmakers of Oakland staff and participants presenting about their work to support and elevate the voices, perspectives, and experiences of young Black men.
