ALEXANDRIA, VA—The board of directors of ASCD, the nation's leading association for K-12 educator professional development, announced today that Ranjit Sidhu has stepped down as executive director and chief executive officer. An interim executive director and CEO is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
"On behalf of the board of directors, I want to thank Ranjit for his leadership and contributions to ASCD," said Dr. Avis Williams, ASCD board president. "During Ranjit's tenure, he helped lead the organization forward in one of ASCD and the education community's most challenging periods. We are better positioned today because of Ranjit, and the board is committed to finding a new executive leader who will build upon his success."
"It has been an honor to serve as the executive director and CEO of ASCD, and I am proud to have worked alongside the incredibly talented ASCD team," said Sidhu. "I am grateful for the Board's confidence and support as we made meaningful progress to better support ASCD members, expand our digital footprint as educators moved online, and significantly improve ASCD's financial solvency."
The board of directors also announced that they will immediately begin a nationwide search for ASCD's next CEO and executive director.
