Barbara Bower teaches high school English and mathematics for The Durham District School Board in Ontario, Canada. She has been using portfolio assessment with students since 1992, and has facilitated conference and workshop sessions on portfolio assessment and student self-evaluation throughout Canada, especially in Ontario, and in the United States. Bower has written a handbook for teachers on portfolio assessment in mathematics, and has coauthored a resource document outlining cooperative learning lesson ideas for teachers of senior mathematics.
