Beverly Showers began her career as a highly successful inner-city classroom teacher, thence to her doctoral study at Stanford University on teacher efficacy within various school cultures, and coordinator of a large study of teaching styles and student learning. Her groundbreaking studies of peer coaching led to her current work as partner with school districts where, as in the case of Joyce's partnerships, studies of staff development and school renewal are embedded.
