Building on Black History: Expanding Literacy Experiences for Black Children
During Black History month, Black and other children might have literacy experiences that reflect and affirm their brilliance. Once February passes, though, how can we continue to center Black children's literary achievement and normalize their high achievement? In this workshop, join Dr. Kim Parker to understand why inclusively diverse literature for Black children is important all year long, how to build communities in classrooms and other spaces that encourage their positive literacy development, and some practical strategies to implement immediately to assure Black children and their peers can have successful literacy experiences.
