About the authors

Alfred S. Posamentier is Professor of Mathematics Education and Dean of the School of Education of the City College of the City University of New York. He is the author and coauthor of more than 40 mathematics books for teachers, secondary and elementary school students, and the general readership. Dr. Posamentier is also a frequent commentator in newspapers on topics relating to education, and he works with mathematics teachers and supervisors, nationally and internationally, to help them maximize their effectiveness.

Daniel Jaye is Director of Academy Programs at the Bergen County (NJ) Academy, a high school for gifted students, and was formerly Chair of Mathematics at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He lectures frequently and enjoys presenting interesting techniques in problem solving as well as problems that provide enrichment for the mathematics classroom. He is also interested in comparing math standards throughout the nation and the world.

Stephen Krulik is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Education at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he has taught courses in methods of teaching mathematics at all levels. His special areas of expertise include the history of mathematics, the teaching of problem solving, and methods of teaching mathematics. He has been at Temple for 37 years. In 2001, Dr. Krulik received the Lindbach Award as an outstanding college professor and in 2003 he was honored by Temple University with the Great Teacher Award.
