ASCD Welcomes 11 Educators Into Champions in Education Program

    As successful mid-career leaders in the profession, ASCD Champions in Education (#ASCDEdChamps) are invited to come together and advance the work to which they so passionately dedicate their careers.

      ARLINGTON, VA—Today, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) announced it would be welcoming a new class of ten exceptional educators into its 2023 Champions in Education program.
      "ASCD is committed to supporting mid-to-late career educators," ASCD Senior Director for Member Communities Walter McKenzie said. "Through this program we are building a community of education influencers who are crafting their own legacies for the impact they have on education."
      The 2023 ASCD EdChamps are:
      • Amanda Austin, Secondary Principal, Iberville County School Board
      • Amanda Koonlaba, Teaching Artist Coordinator, Mississippi Whole Schools
      • Angello Villarreal, Spanish Teacher, Freehold Township High School
      • Apryl Taylor, Social Studies Program Specialist, Orange County Public Schools
      • Chaunté Garrett, Superintendent, Rocky Mount Preparatory School
      • Gillian Benedetti, Doctoral Student and Graduate Research Assistant, Texas A & M University, Corpus Christi
      • Kati Pearson, Regional Executive Director, Florida Department of Education
      • Kelly Brown, Assistant Professor, Lamar University
      • Natalie Pough, Math Teacher, Ron Clark Academy
      • Rose Chu, Project Lead, Minnesota's Elevate Teaching Initiative
      ASCD EdChamps are provided with opportunities to collaborate with ASCD experts, engage in shared learning experiences, chart their paths toward achieving their professional aspirations, and disseminate their research findings to ASCD members, educators worldwide, and the students they support. The EdChamps will be sharing progress in their work at ASCD's annual conference in Washington D.C., March 22–25, 2024.
