Using PD Online® for Individual and Group Study: Portfolios as Performance Assessments in Native American Literature Coursework

In this Webinar

At the Native American Community Academy (NACA) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, teachers are implementing an electronic portfolio system to evaluate students' knowledge, skills, and understanding with the goal to create a standards-based grading system using portfolios. Join the NACA 6th–8th grade Native Literature team (Sarah Caldwell, Josh Krause, Valerie Siow, and Michelle Sprouse) in an informative webinar to learn how they used an ASCD PD Online course to backward-design a portfolio system for both formative and summative assessment purposes.

About the presenter

Josh Krause is director of professional development and curriculum at the NACA Inspired Schools Network (NISN) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Each NISN Affiliated School is a leader in Indigenous education, integrating personal health, cultural identity, and academic excellence so that each student is holistically well (intellectual, physical, social/emotional, relational) and prepared to lead in and contribute to their communities. NISN supports leaders in Indigenous communities to develop a network of schools providing rigorous academic curriculum aimed at college preparation while also promoting Indigenous culture, identity, and community investment.
