Research confirms that warm, supportive, and communicative educator-student relationships are associated with higher levels of student behavioral self-regulation, sense of school belonging, and academic achievement. Strong school-based relationships are especially beneficial for students who have experienced interpersonal trauma and who lack strong support networks outside of school.
