In this Webinar

Questioning and discussion are important components of classroom instruction that work in tandem to push learning forward and move students from passive participants to active meaning-makers. But what are the characteristics of a productive classroom discussion, and how can teachers partner with students to develop the speaking, listening, thinking, and use-of-knowledge skills needed for effective discourse?

About the presenter

Beth Dankert Sattes consults through her business, Enthused Learning, primarily in the area of effective questioning in K–12 classrooms. She works with clients and staff of service centers, districts, schools, and departments of education throughout the eastern and southern part of the United States, frequently facilitating adult learning and returning (in person or via the Internet) for follow-up. Beth began her work in education as an elementary special education teacher and then as a parent educator of preschool children with behavior disorders. She holds a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and a master's in early childhood special education from Peabody College. Her true love is to work with adult learners, be they teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, or parents. Her primary goal has always been to translate research-based practice into understandable and usable practice in an engaging and motivating way. She sometimes directly facilitates adult learning and sometimes trains teacher-leaders to facilitate the learning of colleagues.
